Fascino e mito della Saslong Classic in Val Gardena.

Ogni anno, poco prima di Natale, gli occhi degli appassionati di sci sono puntati sulla Saslong in Val Gardena-Alto Adige. La pista gardenese, una delle più lunghe del mondo, è tra le preferite dal pubblico internazionale ed è all’avanguardia nel campo della sicurezza. La Saslong, realizzata nel 1969, è considerata una delle piste più moderne della Coppa del Mondo.

Veloce, spettacolare, famosa: la pista Saslong in Val Gardena/Alto Adige, così chiamata dal nome ladino del monte Sassolungo (3.181 metri), è una delle discese più spettacolari di Coppa del Mondo. Ogni anno migliaia di spettatori da tutto il pianeta arrivano in Gardena per incitare i migliori atleti del Circo Bianco, che sulla seconda pista più lunga della Coppa fanno registrare grandi prestazioni cronometriche. Per vincere una gara di Coppa del Mondo sulla Saslong, caratterizzata da salti, ondulazioni e strettoie, bisogna essere dei campioni completi, anche se l’albo d’oro della manifestazione ha fatto spesso registrare sorprese. Nel 1970 ad esempio vinse a sorpresa lo svizzero Bernhard Russi: “Dal punto di vista emotivo è stato il momento più forte della mia vita. Si trattò di un vero e proprio exploit, in quanto allora ero considerato solo uno sciatore emergente”. Con nove salti e 17 ondulazioni la Saslong è una delle piste più veloci e lunghe del mondo.

Many fans from all of the world pay homage to this course each year to admire racing top athletes who give their very best to conquer this second longest course in the world. It is filled with jumps, bumps and gliding passages which can only be mastered by the true all-round talents competing. Not that withstanding, there have been several surprise winners on the course in the past. Swiss athlete Bernhard Russi won the sensational World Championship downhill in 1970: "It was the most emotionally charged moment in my sport's life. It was totally unexpected, as I went to the start as a newcomer." The Saslong is viewed as one of the longest and fastest slopes in the world with nine jumps and 17 extended bumps.

Jährlich kurz vor Weihnachten richten Skisportbegeisterte ihre Aufmerksamkeit auf die Saslong in Gröden-Südtirol. Als eine der längsten Rennstrecken der Welt gilt sie als Publikumsmagnet für internationale Skifans und als Vorreiter im Bereich der Sicherheit. Die Saslong, im Jahr 1969 erbaut,  wird als eine der modernsten Strecken im Ski-Weltcup bewertet.

Schnell, spektakulär, berühmt – die Saslong-Abfahrt in Gröden/Südtirol, benannt nach dem ladinischen Namen des 3.181 Meter hohen Langkofels, zählt zu den beeindruckendsten Weltcupabfahrten der Welt. Jährlich pilgern zahlreiche Fans aus allen Herren Ländern nach Gröden, um jene Topathleten zu bewundern, die die zweitlängste Weltcupstrecke der Welt mit Bestzeiten bezwingen. Durchzogen von Sprüngen, Wellen und Gleitpassagen kann ein Weltcuprennen auf der Saslong nur von echten Allround-Talenten gewonnen werden – obwohl es in der Vergangenheit auch immer wieder Überraschungssieger gab. 1970 gewann der Schweizer Bernhard Russi sensationell die WM-Abfahrt: „Es war der emotional stärkste Augenblick in meinem sportlichen Leben. Es war ein Glücksieg, da ich nur als Nachwuchsfahrer an den Start gegangen war.“ Mit neun Sprüngen und 17 größeren Bodenwellen zählt die Saslong zu den schnellsten und längsten Pisten der Welt.

Sie können aber auch die Skier anschnallen und den Rennverlauf an verschiedenen zugänglichen Stellen der Saslong, vom Start, zu den Kamelbuckeln bis ins Ziel, verfolgen.
